Description
Experience the Up-Island charm of Martha's Vineyard in this delightful Sea Captain's home. Conveniently located, this appealing home was chosen by the White House Staff for its stay during the Presidential visit. Featuring a graceful spiral stairway in the entrance hall and a "secret" back staircase, there is also a comfortable living room, adjacent music room, a separate dining room, and a sunny country kitchen. The dining room features a unique ship's hatchcover (dining table) recovered from the sea at Cliff Beach.
Relax with a glass of wine on the veranda or grill fresh-caught Vineyard seafood on the terrace. Walk a few steps to the breakfast cafe, art gallery or island library. Visit the celebrated Vineyard Farmer's Market. The kids will enjoy the playground across the street as well as the bike paths through the state forest. Browse famous Alley's General Store ("Dealers in Almost Everything") before heading out to unwind on a spectacular beach.
Suitably located, the Sea Captain's home is convenient to two legendary Vineyard beaches -- Lambert's Cove features calm water with a gorgeous panorama especially at sunset (the town requires a special permit available when you rent) -- And Long Point Shore Wildlife Refuge featuring spectacular ocean surf and a bonus shallow freshwater pond perfect for the children.
